Top 5 Restaurants in Portland for Mother’s Day!

It’s almost Mother’s Day! Before you panic, remember that we live in Portland, the city with more choices than you know what to do with. If my mother were in town (sadly she’s in Chicago) these are the places I would take her!

1. Petite Jacqeline:pot de creme

My mom isn’t always the easiest person to please, at least food wise. But I know that by bringing her to Petite Jacqueline, she’d be charmed by the French food and atmosphere. Brunch or dinner are both great options to try out with Mom. I recommend the burger, or if you’re going with dessert, the chocolate pot de creme might just make you win you the best child of the year award!

2. Bintliffs: My mom and I have always enjoyed going out to eat, especially for breakfast! I know that if I brought her to Bintliffs, she’d probably order an omelette, while I’d order eggs benedict. Their blueberry pancakes are a good choice too, and make sure to order some mimosas. Raise a toast to mom!

3. Five Fifty Five: This is one of those fantasy items, because my mom is not big on places that she deems “too much”. But I know if I got her in the door, she’d probably love it. Try the mac and cheese, it’s so good that the Travel Channel came and did a special about it recently! Make a reservation, because it’s going to be packed on Sunday with families celebrating.

4. Local 188:pate

Last year, when I was graduating college, this was the place that we were able to agree on, on a cold and rainy night after moving me into my apartment. My mom will never admit it, but she loves tapas, probably almost as much as I do. Order the mussels and get plenty of bread, try the chicken pate (it’s really a work of art) or stop by for brunch…you’ll leave full and happy on Mom’s special day!

5. Nosh:nosh

If I didn’t at least feature a burger on this list, my mom would be upset. If we’re not going out for brunch or breakfast, we’re satisfying her never ending burger craving. And Nosh…well I’m 100% sure that Nosh could satisfy her. The Nosh Burger features a fried egg, plus an incredibly tender burger patty and cheese. You really can’t go wrong with it. But make sure to order the bacon dusted fries, because they make the meal. If you have room, try some of the dessert options, like the s’mores bar or a cocktail.

Here’s to Mom! There’s no better way to show her that you love her more than life itself than to take her out to a delicious meal.
